Case Study 3: Integrity (continued)

During the review of Form 13614-C, the tax preparer learns that Chuck wants to file a joint return with his spouse Vicky. However, he does not have proper documentation of her Social Security number. He also does not have the Social Security numbers of the three children he claims are living with him as dependents. Chuck says he will complete the form with all Social Security numbers later at home. The volunteer preparer should question the validity of Chuck's filing status and number of dependents.
