Verifying the SIDN is Correct

The SIDN should automatically display in the Paid Preparer Use Only section and on Form 8879, if applicable. The SIDN is in the Paid Preparer Use Only section at the bottom of Page 2 of the printed Form 1040. As mentioned previously, when sites use tax software, the SIDN is usually set as the default. Sometimes, however, the SIDN does not appear on both screens. If you notice a missing SIDN, manually enter it and inform your Site Coordinator, who can update the tax software defaults. Returns started after this has been fixed will have the correct SIDN.
