IRS e-file offers quick and easy filing options over traditional paper returns, including the options to file:

• Electronically through an authorized tax practitioner
• By personal computer
• Electronically through a volunteer

All these options allow the taxpayers to use:

• Direct deposit to a bank account for any tax refunds
• Either a credit card or electronic funds withdrawal from a bank account to make tax payments

IRS e-file makes filing faster and more accurate and allows taxpayers to receive their refunds in half the usual time - even sooner with direct deposit.

If you have the opportunity to volunteer at a site that provides e-filing, you will receive specialized training on using tax preparation software and other e-filing procedures.
